Manhunt For Alleged Car Thief

A manhunt is underway for a driver who allegedly stole a vehicle and led police officers on a chase through Perth’s southern suburbs last night. Officers who were on patrol first spotted the stolen Mazda CX30 driving along Tonkin Highway, in Welshpool at around 1:35am.


Police say the vehicle was stolen during a recent burglary in Scarborough on Saturday 17 April. The Mazda was being monitored for a while before officers decided to Police said it was stolen during a burglary in Scarborough on Saturday, April 17.

While the vehicle initially appeared to be stopping, police allege the driver accelerated away and the attempt to stop it was aborted.

Several police units were called to the area to begin a manhunt for the thief. A stinger device was successfully deployed several minutes later on Armadale Road, in Armadale. The car was abandoned by the assailants and fled the scene on foot shortly after on Dewar Street.


A police K-9 squad was assisting the officers in the search for the men how were somewhere in the area. The stolen vehicle was seized and is currently under-ongoing forensic examination.
